Durham Regional Crime Stoppers
Our community. Our responsibility.
A community-led, not-for-profit program connecting anonymous information with the people who can act on it. Serving Durham Region since 1986.
Local people. A shared purpose.
Durham Regional Crime Stoppers encourages people to share information about criminal activity anonymously. We pass that information to police for investigation. If a tip leads to an arrest, the tipster may be eligible for a Board-approved cash reward.
Our program brings together the community, news media, and police. A volunteer Board oversees its administration and operations.
Part of Durham since 1986.
In April 1986, Police Chief Jon Jenkins brought together a group of civilians to establish Durham Regional Crime Stoppers. The program initially operated alongside Toronto, Peel, and York under the Toronto and Regional Crime Stoppers umbrella.
In 1989, Durham obtained its own charter and not-for-profit status, becoming an independent program.
